If you drive just north of Kélibia, you can find even nicer beach sections, which are often even deserted.
Drive to Fort de Kélibia ?? up, you will find one of the most beautiful cafes in Tunisia. The offer is not so extensive, but to sit alone and enjoy the view is worthwhile. The café is located on the hillside, at the top of the fortress, and was laid out on three levels. Almost all the time, the road leads along the sea and you can experience constantly changing natural landscapes, such as olive groves, cactus avenues or poppy fields. It happens quite often that the road crosses flocks of sheep or a Tunisian is traveling with his donkey and wagon. These little congestion cause but hardly disturb.

Micro location
The villa is located on the slopes above Kélibia in the 55 ha large protected area Kélibia la blanche ??, in which more wealthy buildings have also built magnificent. Only a few plots of land are still for sale here, although the best views are of course already taken. The roads to the properties are paved and have sidewalks.
By the way: the house is only about 500 meters walk to the finest sandy beach.

Kélibia is located on the easternmost tip of Tunisia, on the Cap Bon peninsula. When the weather is clear you can see the Italian island of Pantelleria, which is already part of Italy. The city with approx. 30.000 inhabitants, between Tunis (approx. 100 km) and Hammamet (approx. 60 km), was founded by the Phoenicians in the 4th century BC. Founded as a port base, destroyed by the Romans in the 3rd Punic War and later rebuilt. The port city stands out most because of the Byzantine fortress enthroned on a hill. From there you have a stunning view of the sea and the fertile peninsula. The city also has an important fishing port, one of the most important in the country. If you don't shy away from getting up early, you should go to the harbor at dawn when the boats return from night fishing - the harbor is then very busy. The city center is not that big, souvenir shops are hard to find. The picture here is very different from that in other tourist cities in Tunisia. The inhabitants are very friendly and warm and still have the old Tunisian quality of serenity.
There is no mass tourism in Kélibia. Nevertheless, there are beautiful hotels of international standards in beach locations (e.g. Hotel Club Kélibia **** and Hotel Palmarina ***). There are hardly any international restaurants. But that doesn't have to be a disadvantage - Tunisian cuisine offers something for every palate and there are restaurants from very cheap (from 3 euros for a warm meal, e.g. grilled turkey with salad and couscous) to 10 euros for fresh fish.
Even those who want to take a bath break, are not too short. Kélibia offers unique and uncrowded beaches. Although they are not miles long, as in other tourist areas, but very clean and uniquely beautiful. The water is very clear and has a very pleasant bathing temperature.
