The building:
The Gründerzeit villa was built for an industrialist in 1888 according to plans by the architect Otto Harff. After World War II, which the building survived unscathed, the villa was converted into a hotel at the end of the 40s, which was given the name "La Roche" by the owners. It was very popular with the representatives of the young Bonn Republic. Theodor Heuss lived here with his wife Elly Heuss-Knapp in 1948/49 before he became the first Federal President. The well-known kitchen of the hotel was run by the owner Carl La Roche, from 1949 he organized the state banquets in the Villa Hammerschmidt. In 1993, the villa, built in the classicist style, was entered in the list of monuments of the city of Bonn ("the representative building [is] an indispensable part of the southern part of Bonn and thus important for the history of the city of Bonn"). In the same year, the property was extensively remodeled and renovated by the new owner, and further renovations have continued to this day. The hotel is run as a garni hotel (three stars plus), the restaurant in the basement has been well leased for years.

The hotel:
A few steps lead to the representative entrance with adjoining reception and office behind it. On the right hand side of the reception is the spacious breakfast area, consisting of two rooms with a beautiful stuccoed ceiling and a historical wooden floor, designed as panel parquet. On the ground floor there is also a pantry for preparing breakfast, two double and one single room, each with a shower room and two separate toilet facilities.
A richly decorated, white wooden staircase leads from the entrance to the first and second floors. The room layout is identical on both floors: three single rooms with shower bath, three double rooms with bath tub, one double room with shower bath and two extra beds. A total of seven single, eight double and two four-bed rooms, each with a bathroom, are available. The maximum number of beds is therefore 31.

Restaurant:
A part of the basement has been leased for several years and houses an Irish pub, which is very popular with Bonn residents. The guest room including counter area has a size of approx. 50 m², there is also a kitchen (approx. 25 m²), a cold room, a pantry and the toilet facility. The total area is about 126 m². The leaseholder operates a beer garden on the garden-side courtyard area with outdoor seating and the front yard.

Equipment:
The building has been constantly renovated, is technically up to date and furnished with great attention to detail. All bathrooms are tiled in black and white, made of high-quality materials and radiate classic elegance. A few years ago, some of the windows, the lighting and some of the floor coverings were renewed in accordance with the specifications of the monument protection. The rooms are equipped with timeless furniture and are constantly maintained and renewed. The rooms have a telephone, LED TV, high-speed WiFi and mostly a minibar. Electricity and hot water are generated by a separate combined heat and power plant with an output of approx. 6 KWh in the basement of the building, heating is via gas central heating.

Location:
The carefully renovated Gründerzeit villa is located in the Baumschulviertel, a very popular residential area, which is mainly characterized by restored houses from the turn of the century. The central location opposite a park is ideal for discerning travellers, as the main train station, the city of Bonn and also the popular hotspots in Poppelsdorf and the southern part of the city can be reached in a few minutes on foot. Here you will find an opulent range of individual shops, restaurants and trendy bars.
The journey time to Cologne/Bonn Airport is approx. 25 minutes, the surrounding feeder roads 555 and 565 in the direction of Cologne and Frankfurt and the A 61 in the direction of Ludwigshafen can be reached within five minutes.
